Vancouver BC. Davinder Johal More than 100,000 Sikh Canadians, gathered in Vancouver on April 16, 2016 to celebrate the birth of Khalsa. Since 1699 when Guru Gobind Singh established the “Singh”, Vaisakhi has become a dominant celebration, in Vancouver, Surrey BC, where the Community hosts others with Free Langar ( Food & Water), with prayers for peace and Goodwill.
Khalsa Diwan Society takes the permit from City of Vancouver, where as the Security is provided by Vancouver Police Department. Ever since 1914 Koma Gata Maru incident at Vancouver, Vaisakhi has been celebrated with renewed vigor and has become the center piece of “Immigrant Respect”, assimilation and has been encouraged by the Premier of British Columbia and Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, to show case the Multiculture of Canada.
British Columbia Peoples Party, thanks the Vancouver Police Department, Vancouver Mayor for sharing this celebration and show the compassion to the World. BCPP President Vikram Bajwa, summed it up by saying “Vaisakhi in Vancouver and Surrey is the Heartbeat of British Columbia”. We are lucky to be a part of this great Canadian History, commented Prof. Elizabeth Bowen, Vancouver  and Surrey have become the Ideal Cities of this Century, said Prof. Bowen.
