LIGHTNING RELEASES – (Tulsa, OK) – On February 20th, singer/songwriter Eric Himan was driving into Phoenix, AZ to play a show as part of his newest West Coast tour when he heard about SB 1062 being passed. “It made me livid,” says Himan.

Himan is known for many things: his passion for cooking, being a critically acclaimed (and openly gay) artist, his earnest, inspired music and guitar playing, and mostly for his soulful, bluesy voice.  It is that voice he decided to use to make his opinion on the matter known, and in a big way.

In just a few short hours that night, he wrote “Not Going Anywhere Tonight”, a soulful musical message to the Arizona Legislature. Within three days he had it recorded and shot an accompanying YouTube video to get his message outYou can watch it here.  You can also purchase and download the song here. Himan is donating 100% of proceeds to groups fighting to keep this bill from becoming law as well as fighting for full LGBT equality in Arizona.

“I couldn’t take it,” added Himan, who will be touring this spring with fellow singer/songwriter/activists Ani DiFranco and Leon Russell. “I had to write this song and put it out there.” With “Not Going Anywhere Tonight,” he added, he hopes to raise awareness and urges people “to take it seriously. It could easily find its way across our country. Let’s stop it now and continue our fight for our freedom to live as ordinary citizens with equal rights under the law.”

Eric Himan is an award winning, nationally touring soulful/folk/rock artist based in the Tulsa area. Eric’s music has recently been featured on Sirius/XM’s Coffeehouse radio station with his song, “Everything To You” and version of the Simply Red classic, “Holding Back the Years”.
