Food Truck for Thought gives foodies a new way to dine out for good in October.

PRESS RELEASE: San Francisco, CA (October 2013) –
On October 16th, Mission Graduates will host its 5th annual Food for Thought. This year, over 20 Mission District restaurants will participate in this dynamic fundraising event, including Mission staples such as Specchio, Foreign Cinema, Farina and Maverick. Each restaurant will be filled with Mission Graduates supporters and 25% of the proceeds from the night will be donated directly to Mission Graduates. In addition to giving back by just dining out, restaurant-goers can show their support for educational programs in the Mission by purchasing raffle tickets for the chance to win exciting prizes including an all-expense paid vacation to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; a Costa Rica vacation; an iPad mini and much more.

Food for Thought Ambassadors will be at each restaurant to share information about Mission Graduates and its mission to make college the expectation, not the exception, for Mission youth.

This year, Mission Graduates is excited to introduce a sister-event, Food Truck for Thought.  Incorporating a thriving piece of the San Francisco food scene, Food Truck for Thought will take place on October 15th at SoMa StrEat Food Park. Mission Graduates will take over the Evening Market, transforming the park into a “College Wars” themed night. A portion of the proceeds from Food Truck for Thought will be donated to Mission Graduates.

According to Jenna Casey, Development Coordinator for Mission Graduates, “Both Food for Thought and Food Trucks for Thought provide great opportunities for the people of San Francisco to sample a variety of top quality chefs and restaurants, while bringing much-needed support to the educational plans of Mission youth.”

Mission Graduates is a nonprofit organization that increases the number of K-12 students in San Francisco’s Mission District who are able to prepare for and complete a college education. Every fall, Mission Graduates partners with Mission restaurants and Mission residents to host this District-wide event that allows diners to give back to their community.
