Indian Overseas Congress to raise $ 5 Million,US & Canada, 1984 Memorial at Rakab Ganj, India.

PRESS RELEASE (05/23/2013) Vancouver : Indian Overseas Congress supports the Delhi Gurudwara Prabhandak Comm., resolution to erect a 1984 Memorial in Rakab Ganj Gurudwara, in New Delhi, to remember the victims of 1984 tragedy, termed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh as ” dark period of Indian History”, with an apology rendered in Parliament.

IOC President Vikram Bajwa on the request of Families residing in New Delhi, Mumbai, India of victims of ” Kanishka Air India”, tragedy, suggested to DSGPC, President Manjit Singh GK, to raise a similar Memorial alongside” 1984 Memorial”, so the families can readdress their emotions and pray for the lost souls, in inhumanly violence. The executiveComm., of IOC, requests all religious Gurudawars , Temples and social Non Resident Organizations in U.S.A , Canada, U.K. and Australia, to support the Memorial and directly donate to DSGPC. Dr. Sudhir Gupta, General Secretary who belongs to Delhi, estimates donations of $ 5 Million Dollars for this Memory to build compassion, between Hindu and Sikhs of New Delhi, India, with a message of Unity and Integrity of Brotherhood, in the most cosmopolitan Capital of India.

IOC invites Shiromani Akali Dal USA, Canada, BJP Overseas Friends and other major NRI organizations to initiate the needed donations and requests DSGPC, the memorial to be completed within One Year, by May 2014. Non Resident Indian’s, especially from Punjab have gone through many “Tearful”, years which also divided the NRI communities around the Globe, strongly feel, the “1984 Memorial”, will bring a closure and peace among them, in U.S.A and Canada.
