ViendoMovies releases the highest grossing film saga in Spanish Cinema

LIGHTNING RELEASES: MIAMI, Florida (12/2/2013)– ViendoMovies is honored to announce the premier of the highest grossing film saga in Spanish cinema for the fans in the United States and Puerto Rico of originally produced films in Spanish: “Torrente”, the tetralogy starring the hilarious Santiago Segura as Torrente himself, a police investigator with a biased, absurd and reactionary personality. The four movies are satirical interpretations of situations common to the spy genres, as well as social and political situations. Segura takes advantage of comedy as a tool of criticism in an irreverent tone. The movies will be released on different dates by the channel, beginning this December.

The four movies in the series are “Torrente: El Brazo Tonto de la Ley”, “Mission in Marbella”, The Protector”, and “Lethal Crisis”. The Saga has received international credentials with 5 wins and 7 nominations overall including; 2 Goya wins for “Best Supporting Actor” and “Best New Director”, 1 Ondas Award and 1 Peñiscola Comedy Film Festival Award for “Best Actor”, 2 Goya nominations for “Best Original Song” and “Best New Actor”, 2 European Film Award nominations for “Best Director” and “Best Actor”, 1 Spanish Actor Union nomination for “Film: Supporting Performance”, 1 Fotogramas de Plata nominations for “Best Movie Actor”, 1 World Stunt Award nomination for “Best Action in a Foreign Film” and 2nd place in Fant-Asia Film Festival for “Best International Film”. The last Torrente film; “Lethal Crisis” made record breaking sales for a Spanish film when it sold more than 1 million tickets during it’s opening weekend, grossing more than $11.6 million. Highly recognized critics have praised several of these productions, in addition to the sustained audience acclamation for 4 films with a controversial, politically incorrect, and transgressed character.

Juan Luis Torrente is the protagonist and antihero in the tetralogy, which was created and interpreted by director and lead actor, Santiago Segura. Torrente is an ugly, bald, overweight, dirty, corrupt, fascist, racist, chauvinistic and anticommunist retired cop. He refuses to accept his expulsion from the Police corps due to his outrageous behavior and continues to “patrol” each night in order to fight what he considers criminal activity.  Despite his lack of values, he would give anything for his Country and his interests, such as Atletico Madrid and El Fary, an artist he fanatically idolizes.

Adding this saga to ViendoMovies’ lineup showcases the company’s commitment to their mission; bringing its’ audience the best originally produced Spanish language cinema. Don’t miss it; only available on ViendoMovies, the best channel for Spanish cinema!
