Author Believes Sharing Personal Secrets Will Help Others Break Free from Addictive Behaviors

in Press Releases

PRESS RELEASE: Portland, Ore. June 11, 2013— Everyone has an addiction. That is what author Kimberly Davidson advocates in her latest book ‘Something Happened On My Way To Hell: Break Free From the Insatiable Pursuit of Pleasure.’ Davidson offers advice to women who suffer from addictions of every kind.

“We all love something too much. And we want to know that when we struggle we’re not alone in our fears, our sorrows, our defeats, and our hopes,” said Davidson. “Many addictions are socially sanctioned and perceived as healthy, essential activities. Yet, we can end up mastered by those things because they’ve silently invaded our lives. From the brain’s perspective, whatever we do to produce feelings of euphoria is worth repeating,” added Davidson, who is also a counselor.

After analyzing her own addictive behaviors through a spiritual lens, author Kimberly Davidson finally broke free of the daily challenges and cravings that plagued her life. Her desire is to share this experience with others and to offer a specific plan for overcoming the challenges addictions and cravings present.

After receiving her master’s degree in specialized women’s ministry from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and her board certification in biblical counseling, Davidson knows how to speak directly to her audience about the importance of living a healthier life, free from personal addictions, insatiable cravings, and the heartache of constantly wanting more.

“This healing book explores real issues of deep bondage that real women experience—both celebrated and condoned habits. Willpower is not enough. We need more than ourselves to be saved. This is a God-help-transform-me book,” said Davidson.

The book offers women a 12-week spiritual guide to breaking free from addictions and cravings through the use of Scripture, biblical counseling action steps, and the author’s own personal experiences. Subjects covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Addicted to Food and Body Image; to Relationships and Religion; to Approval and the Internet; to Pain, Stress, and Substances
  • The Quest for Perfection
  • Finding Purpose in Pain
